OUR SERVICES

COLLABORATIVE PRACTICE

Collaborative practice is an efficient and respectful process, eliminating court involvement, which results in a client-centered divorce or separation agreement.  This model is also beneficial for family issues such as creating pre-nuptial agreements, donor and family formation agreements and is well-suited for LGBTQI and queer families. The team model utilizes attorneys, mental health professionals, family specialists and financial experts, to provide support and guidance to the parties.

MEDIATION

Mediation, as an alternative dispute resolution technique, is especially effective for LGBTQI and queer families in divorces and separations.  It can also be used for a variety of inter-familial and/or inter-personal conflicts as well as  helping create agreements for those not in conflict but need guidance on their future rights and responsibilities. The mediator acts as a facilitator using experience and training to enable you to resolve the issues based on the needs and realities of your unique situation.

FAMILY FORMATION

Whether you are an individual, couple, or polyamorous family we can help you craft a co-habitation agreement, pre-marital agreement, known donor sperm agreement or co-parenting agreement. We can help you discuss the issues involved and make decisions that will reflect your goals and intentions and will be sustainable over the duration of your relationship.

DIVORCE AND FAMILY CONFLICT

Even in the best of relationships resolving conflict within the family can be stressful. If you need guidance but don’t wish to further aggravate a situation by using blame, guilt or shame, our team of professionals can help you.

PARENTING AND SEPARATION AGREEMENTS

Whether your family is transitioning through a separation or divorce or you are raising children in a non-traditional setting, we will assist with every aspect of your parenting plan – from the legal intricacies to the financial realities to developmental and psychological needs of your child(ren).

FINANCIAL AGREEMENTS

We will help you make decisions that result in a realistic, post-divorce spending plan and a fair division of the assets. Our goal is to help ensure a secure financial foundation for the children and for the separating couple.

ELDER MEDIATION

Assisting with the legal and/or psychosocial needs of an elder in an LGBTQI family setting can be especially challenging. If you are having difficulty getting on the same page with your other adult family members (or the elder in question) about appropriate care and general decision-making, an LGBTQI Family Professional is here to help.
